Valencia to make Rojo offer

Valencia are set to enquire for Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo in the January transfer window as they aim to strengthen their squad.

Di Marzio report the Argentine is viewed as a priority for Los Che following on from a meeting between manager Cesare Prandelli and owner Peter Lim in Singapore earlier this week, in which the January transfer window and player arrivals and departures were the focus.

The former Azzurri coach has made it clear he wants a left-sided defender to help balance a five-man defence with Rojo the number one target, but they also recognise it could be a difficult deal to negotiate due to the 26-year-old's recent run in Jose Mourinho's United side and it is thought they are unwilling to sell him.

After Wednesday night's victory at Crystal Palace, the Portuguese boss described Rojo as being 'in the best form of his career' and he is contracted at Old Trafford until 2019, making any deal appear unlikely.

Prandelli's side will be without Tunisian defender Aymen Abdennour for the African Cup of Nations in January, hence the apparent urgency surrounding any deal.

The report also reaffirms recent rumours that Valencia are keen to complete a deal for Juventus attacker Simone Zaza, currently on loan at West Ham United.
