President dismisses Monchi departure

Sevilla president Jose Castro knows nothing about sporting director Monchi having reportedly agreed a deal with Italian giants AS Roma.

Castro’s comments follow on from reports that highly-coveted transfer guru had agreed to join the Rome-based club at the end of the season to replace outgoing sporting director Walter Sabatini. (http://www.football-espana.net/62105/monchi-agrees-roma-move)

"I am not aware of any agreement and I speak to Monchi every day,” Castro is quoted as saying by Marca.

“It's just one of those reports that emerges every so often.

"I'm only thinking of a Sevilla with Monchi. My intention is for Monchi to continue at Sevilla FC."

Roma also took to their official club radio channel Radio Roma to dismiss reports that any such deal with Monchi – who has spent 16 years at the Andalucians – had been agreed.

In October, the former goalkeeper had fuelled speculation he would be renewing his attempts to leave Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan by saying he would love to live in Rome or Paris. (http://www.football-espana.net/61512/monchi-id-live-rome-or-paris)
