Ramos: We won’t let up like before

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has revealed his side’s big drop in form two seasons ago is still fresh in his memory and they will not allow it to happen again.

Under Carlo Ancelotti, Los Blancos went 22 matches unbeaten and going to win the Club World Cup in December, but upon returning they lost at Valencia straight away before going on to lose at Atletico Madrid, Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona, ending the season without any further trophies.

"Not many years ago, we had a very similar run without losing and then things got complicated after Christmas,” Ramos told the club’s official website ahead of the tie.

"It is very fresh in the memory. We had major drop in form. Mistakes are there to learn from, and hopefully it will be a wake-up call so it does not happen again."

Madrid are now enjoying a 33-match unbeaten run going into their Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund this evening, requiring a victory to win the group.
