Abelardo apologises to Marca

Sporting Gijon boss Abelardo Fernandez has apologised to Marca for recently swearing and insulting one of its journalists.

Abelardo launched a foul-mouthed rant at Radio Marca’s Pablo Guisasola after Sporting’s 2-1 defeat to Eibar in the Copa del Rey midweek, but ahead of the Asturians’ La Liga match against Osasuna on Sunday, the Coach admitted he was “totally out of line” with the reporter.

“I made a mistake, I was totally out of line with the newspaper that I insulted,” he began.

“I respect all of Marca’s employees, just as I respect the employees of Sporting, which is my employer.

“I want to apologise to Pablo for calling him a disgrace. I don’t know him well enough to insult like him that, I don’t think he deserved it, so I apologise.

“I think that during this entire time, I attacked someone for talking about non-sporting issues and not the tactics and technicalities of a Coach, rather other things that had been invented and were lies.”
