‘Late goals difficult for Depor’

Gaizka Garitano admits Deportivo La Coruna are finding late goals “difficult to overcome” after another last-gasp defeat on Saturday to Malaga.

Javi Ontiveros’ goal at the death gave Malaga a dramatic 4-3 win and Depor looking for their first victory of the season, leaving Garitano to rue the “childish mistakes” that marred his side’s “best” performance to date in 2016-17.

“We had our best game of the season, but it was to be unrewarded,” the Coach said after the match.

“It’s not the first time that this has happened to us. We’ve had several games where we’ve lost in the last minute, and it’s difficult to overcome.

“Malaga scored two great goals, we made mistakes in defence, and with very little they scored against us.

“It’s not easy to see a team that always lose games at the last minute.

“We made childish mistakes, lacked ruthlessness in our finishing and therefore went unrewarded.”
