Monchi: I think of another club…

Sevilla sporting director Monchi has once again increased speculation he could leave the club in the summer as he 'thinks about another club'.

Speaking on Catalan radio show 'El Club de la mitjanit', the 48-year-old reflected on a 'difficult summer' where he attempted to leave the Europa League winners, but his request was refused.

"I have an idea in my head about another club, but I don't know if I will follow it," he explained.

"It was a very difficult summer – I was tired and needed a break from football, a change, but it came at the wrong time and I wasn't in a position to do so.

"It was a personal decision but not many people believed me and a lot of speculation that I had reached deals with other clubs last summer were not true.

"Sevilla know what my thoughts and ideas are and they are not the same as the club's, today we don't agree and it is respectful."

Monchi has been famed for being the brains behind Sevilla's success since he assumed the role in 2000, with five Europa League titles won and many star players sold at big profits whilst the team's performances did not suffer.

Last month he hinted on a possible future destination – 'I'd love to live in Paris or Rome one day'.
