Barca report Tebas for comments

Barcelona have reported La Liga chief Javier Tebas and the Spanish RFEF competition committee to the Administrative Court of Sport (TAS).

The move follows comments made by Tebas in relation to the actions of Barca players in their win at the Mestalla against Valencia on Saturday and the club confirmed in a statement that they were withdrawing support for him as league president.

"The declarations made by Tebas are irresponsible and unbecoming of a sports executive," Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu said.

"And the (RFEF's) competition committee is not there to make assessments but rather to take disciplinary action — or not — in order to make an example of incidents that occur on the field of play, and making statements regarding the actions of the players adds even more tension to a situation that must be de-escalated.

"(Barca) will bring these declarations before the TAS because we want it to see to it that if they produce violence they are punished accordingly."
