Garitano: Depor goals will come

Gaizka Garitano insists it is just a matter of time before Deportivo La Coruna start scoring goals regularly ahead of Sporting Gijon in La Liga on Saturday.

Depor are the League’s lowest scorers with just two from their opening six games, having sold talisman Lucas Perez to Arsenal in August, and Garitano admits the need to get going in an attacking sense “is getting bigger” by the week.

“It’s a vital game for us, we know how important it is, but we can’t have any anxiety in this seventh week,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“That can’t stop from taking the initiative. We need to win and it’s a very important match.

“It’s true that we then go to Camp Nou, plus there’s a break. We last won six games ago, now we’re playing at home and the need to win, every week that passes without us picking up points, is getting bigger.

“The statistics are there, we’ve conceded the least. We’ve had the sixth most shots in the League, but to win you need to score.

“In this regard, we’re training, improving our finishing and working on attacking movements.

“Everyone wants to score goals, but the goals will come, I’m convinced of this.”
