Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez has left on loan for Tottenham Hotspur and will be replaced by Milan’s Diego Lopez.
The Premier League club confirmed they had signed the Blanquiazules shot-stopper on a temporary deal until the end of the season on Wednesday evening. The deal also includes the option for Spurs to make the move permanent for a fee of €7m.
Arriving as Pau Lopez’s replacement is his namesake Diego. The former Real Madrid man was out of favour at parent club Milan, his Coach Vincenzo Montella having informed him he was surplus to requirements at San Siro.
The 34-year-old subsequently let it be known that he wished to return to La Liga, with several days of negotiations culminating in his switch to Catalonia.
