Cillessen to Barca delayed?

Barcelona have reportedly delayed Jasper Cillessen’s arrival so he can feature in Ajax’s Champions League playoff second leg on Wednesday.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barca are happy to let Cillessen help Ajax reach the group stage as an extension of their close relationship with the Dutch club, who must beat Rostov after a 1-1 draw in last week’s first leg.

Champions League qualification is considered “very important” for Ajax as it represents “a significant sum of income” and possibly enough of a windfall to keep his transfer fee at €12m.

The 27-year-old would also not be cup-tied if he played in the match, leaving Thursday or Friday the likeliest days that his switch to Barca and Claudio Bravo’s to Manchester City will be made official.
