Argentina boss Edgardo Bauza is “optimistic” that Lionel Messi will return to the international fold after their meeting on Thursday.
Bauza held talks with Messi in Barcelona with the intention of persuading the No 10 to go back on his earlier retirement plans, but the Coach refused to divulge in any details when quizzed by DPA reporters, although he was upbeat in his demeanour.
“We spent an hour talking about football. We’ll see if this talk has helped,” he said.
“I’m always optimistic by nature because I am in life, but it’s a personal decision [for Messi] and I didn’t want to interfere [in his personal life].”
