Madrid, Juve ‘talks for Pogba’

Real Madrid reportedly contacted Juventus for Paul Pogba despite the midfielder appearing close to Manchester United.

AS cites ESPN as reporting the approach from Los Blancos, which comes shortly after Zinedine Zidane noted Pogba ‘isn’t a Madrid player yet’ when asked about the France international at a Press conference in the United States, where Madrid are preparing for the new season.

ESPN adds that they’ve been told Pogba is expected to join United despite Madrid stepping up their interest but the Premier League club fear Pogba is holding out for Los Blancos.

Madrid this week made contact for Pogba, it’s added, but the feeling is that Madrid would baulk at paying the sort of sum United have been discussing with Juventus, expected to be a world-record fee.

AS notes however that Madrid’s interest in Pogba is at the urging of Zidane, who also noted when asked about Pogba that ‘Madrid always want the best.’
