Alcacer: Nani has a lot to contribute

Paco Alcacer welcomes the arrival of Luis Nani at Valencia and believes the Euro 2016 winner will contribute a great deal.

Nani was drafted in from Fenerbahce and was part of the Portugal side successful in France, with Alcacer sure the winger will improve Los Che.

“He’ll be a good teammate for me and for any striker. I think he’ll contribute a lot to this club,” Alcacer told Super Deporte before touching on Alvaro Negredo’s departure to Middlesbrough, Valencia having been keen to offload the striker.

“That’s a personal issue and we’re all professionals. It’s been decided and I wish him well as a teammate and a friend, which I consider myself to him. Now there are kids from the youth teams, others who were out on loan and the most important thing is to make a united group and a family in the locker room.”

Alcacer added that he doesn’t want Valencia to have another season such as 2015-16, when they were almost dragged into the relegation battle and finished mid-table.

“Valencia are one of the best clubs in the world and seasons like last year shouldn’t be repeated. I’ve been here three seasons and I always say the same. My goal is to exceed the previous year. I don’t think collectively we can have another year like last year,” he continued.

“The mistakes we’re making in friendlies are good for us to improve, to correct in practice, and not make them when the competition starts. We did better against Feyenoord and the collective dynamics are improving.”
