Pato in late Sevilla twist?

Villarreal's move for Alexandre Pato could be hijacked by Sevilla as the striker's agent has confessed to holding talks with the Andalusians.

Reports on Sunday suggested Villarreal had agreed personal terms with Pato, but Gilmar Veloz has since told Estado Deportivo that Sevilla are also in the race for the former Milan and Chelsea attacker, although Los Nervionenses would have to free up a non-EU spot first.

"I know Monchi and I talked to him about Pato, but Sevilla don't have any non-EU places available at the moment," the representative told the newspaper.

Corinthians boss Cristovao Borges added: "Since he arrived and started working with us [again], the possibility of negotiations has always existed because it's in the interests of the player and club."
