Outgoing Barcelona full-back Adriano says he is "now part of the Besiktas family" after passing a medical with his new club on Sunday.
Adriano was due to travel with Barca to England on Monday, but he instead took a flight to Turkey, where he was greeted by Besiktas fans en masse, and the 31-year-old is looking forward to a new challenge.
"I come from a club who ended last season as champions," he told Milliyet.
"I'm a champion, I want to play in a new championship and succeed in the Champions League next season.
"At first, my wife was a little worried and hesitant because of the recent events that had taken place in Turkey, but the arrival of many players and the club's project eventually convinced us. We're also very impressed with the city of Istanbul.
"After leaving passport control, I was frankly surprised to see the large number of fans waiting for me.
"That made me feel good. When it happened, I felt I couldn't refuse [Besiktas'] offer.
"I spoke to [Arda Turan], but also with his representatives. I can now say that I'm part of the Besiktas family."
