Alen Halilovic wasn’t present as the Barcelona squad returned for pre-season and is on the verge of leaving for Hamburg.
Marca reports Halilovic’s absence, which came with the permission of the club, as he is in Germany finalising a move to Die Rothosen.
Halilovic spent last season on loan at Sporting Gijon, having moved to Barca from Dinamo Zagreb in 2014.
He was originally named among the group of players reporting for medical tests on Tuesday, but was instead allowed to miss the session to sort out his future.
A fee of €5m is mooted by Catalan publication Sport, with Barca retaining the right to re-sign the Croatia international in the next two years.
Halilovic would cost €10m after 12 months and €12.5m after two years, with only the minor details to be agreed before the transfer is announced.
The 20-year-old is also said to have had an offer on the table from Valencia, but preferred the option of the Bundesliga.
