Real Madrid legend tells club of departure plans – report

Real Madrid legend Raul Gonzalez has been involved in developing young talent at Valedebebas for the last five years, and it looks as if he will make the jump from Castilla this summer. Amid links to Germany, he has reportedly informed Los Blancos of his plans to leave.

Raul is out of contract in the summer, but Real Madrid have always allowed him to decide his future since he took over at Castilla. Following his worst season in the job, with the side closer to the relegation battle than the promotion scrap, and it appears he feels he needs to move abroad to make his way in management. BILD, via MD, say he has told Real Madrid he will leave this summer.

He was interviewed by Villarreal earlier in the season, and considered for the Sevilla job, but he has also been linked with a move to Hamburg in the 2. Bundesliga, as well as Union Berlin. Under-19s coach Alvaro Arbeloa is likely to move up to the Castilla side this summer if Raul does end up departing.
