Palermo confirm Vazquez to Sevilla

Palermo have confirmed that Franco Vazquez “is now a Sevilla player” as their Vice-President explains the Andalusians “are the club he wanted the most”.

Vazquez has spent the past week locked in talks with Sevilla, the attacking midfielder an express request of new Coach Jorge Sampaoli, and Guglielmo Micchiche revealed on Friday that talks had ended favourably.

“He’s now a Sevilla player and one of Italy’s best players in his position,” Guglielmo Micchiche told TMW Radio.

“He ultimately joined Sevilla as they’re the club he wanted the most. Italian teams never took the final step to sign him, while Sevilla showed great interest in this fantastic player.”

The Italo-Argentine scored eight goals and made seven assists in Serie A last season to help the Rosanero avoid relegation and ended the campaign before as joint-assist leader of the Italian top flight.

He also spent the 2012-13 season on loan at Rayo Vallecano, where he netted three times in 18 La Liga appearances.
