Pogba: Madrid a great club, but…

Paul Pogba admits Real Madrid are a “great club” but hinted he was nearer to staying at Juventus or returning to Manchester United.

Pogba has been involved in a transfer tug-of-war between Madrid, United and Juve since before the European Championship, but he appeared to distance himself from Los Blancos when he was given all three jerseys by ESPN during an interview on Wednesday.

“Cristiano Ronaldo should win the Ballon d’Or. He’s won the Champions League and European Championship,” he said in perfect Spanish.

“Right now, [Lionel] Messi and Cristiano are the best players in the world. The truth is that I’d take both. [Antoine] Griezmann’s also had a wonderful year.

“Juventus are my family, I’m happy when I wear this shirt, they’re who I play for and I feel good with them.

“When I wear the Juventus shirt, I’m happy playing football and doing what I’ve wanted since I was a child.

“[United] were my first family, and if [Jose] Mourinho called me, I’d see [what he wanted] …

“[Madrid] are European champions, have won the Champions League and are a great club.”
