Llorente: I think I’m staying

Fernando Llorente expects to stay at Sevilla despite the club reportedly hoping to get his €7m-a-year wages off the books.

Estadio Deportivo notes Monchi has been trying to find a new club for the former Spain international, who didn’t live up to expectations after he was signed from Juventus last summer.

Llorente has been linked with a lucrative move to China, a switch to Espanyol, a return to Serie A with Lazio or a venture to England and Premier League new boys Middlesbrough, coached by Aitor Karanka, but says he’s of the belief he’ll stay where he is.

“I have two years on my contract and we’ll see. Unless something happens I think I will stay,” the striker is quoted as saying, Estadio Deportivo suggesting his wages are the reason why Sevilla have struggled to generate significant interest.
