Lazio may withdraw Adriano offer

Lazio are understood to have given Barcelona an ultimatum over the signing of defender Adriano.

The Italians have an agreement in place with the 31-year-old but the Blaugrana are still to give the go-ahead that will allow the Brazilian to depart the Camp Nou.

A report in Sport claims Lazio have told Adriano’s agent, Paulo Affonso, that if the transfer is not completed by this Saturday then they will withdraw their offer, as they do not want the situation to drag on any longer.

It is understood there was a meeting between representatives of the two clubs on Thursday, where no deal was reached, while Affonso is believed to be arguing that if Barca amicably terminate Adriano’s contract it will save €7m.

On the other hand, the Catalan club’s hierarchy are aware Adriano accepted a one-year contract extension until June 2017, although he fell out of favour with boss Luis Enrique last season and only played eight times.
