Abidal: ‘Pogba should join Barca’

Former Barcelona defender Eric Abidal believes countryman Paul Pogba should join his old club if he eventually leaves Juventus.

Real Madrid have already made enquiries for the Frenchman, with Toni Kroos rumoured to be headed in the opposite direction, yet Abidal feels he knows what will be in Pogba´s best interests.

“No wonder all the biggest teams in the world want to sign Pogba,” maintained Abidal in an interview with Cadena COPE.

“I don´t know what his dream is, yet I know very well that Barcelona is the best club in the world.”

The 36-year-old also gave his verdict on a proposed transfer of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain, which if reports in France are to be believed is due to be completed next summer.

“Neymar to PSG? Right now he is with Barca because he wanted to go to the best team in the world. Hopefully the trident of him, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez will stay together for many years.”

Abidal also pointed out the importance of Javier Mascherano to the Blaugrana, saying he deserves a hero´s send-off should he decide to depart the Camp Nou.

“Masche deserves the utmost respect for everything he gave the club. If he goes, then he should leave through the front door.

“He wears the Barcelona shirt more than anyone,” he concluded.
