Juan Mata is touted as an option for Barcelona this summer as he’s expected to leave Manchester United following Jose Mourinho’s appointment.
Mundo Deportivo notes Mata left Chelsea for United in January 2014 after falling out of favour under Mourinho at Stamford Bridge but with the Portuguese hired to replace Louis van Gaal, Mata is again at a crossroads.
The Spain international has though been considered as an alternative to the usual front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar and has more than once been close to going to Camp Nou already.
No real transfer fee is suggested but MD expect Mata to cost significantly less than the €45m United paid 18 months ago if the deal does go through.
Barca are said to prefer to sign a player who knows La Liga and the likes of Kevin Gameiro, Lucas Perez and Paco Alcacer have also been discussed, as has Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi, even though he has no Primera experience.
