Gracia confirmed as Rubin boss

Rubin Kazan have officially appointed former Malaga boss Javi Gracia as their new Coach on a four-year contract.

The appointment was made official just hours after Juande Ramos was presented by Malaga, and Gracia was quick to dismiss suggestions his move was motivated by money, despite acknowledging earlier in the week that he would be earning almost 10 times his salary at La Rosaleda.

“I was working at Malaga and had a contract for three more years, but I’m moving in Kazan due to the fact that I was offered a contract for a longer period here,” he said at his official unveiling on Friday.

“My goal is achieving growth for myself and the entire team and to relive those moments, when the club played in the Champions League.”

The 46-year-old managed Greek sides Olympiakos Volou and Kerkyra, before returning to Spain with Almeria, Osasuna and finally Malaga, where he led the latter to a ninth-place finish in La Liga in his first season and then one better in 2015-16.
