Barca & Madrid pipped for Renato

Bayern Munich have stolen a march on both Barcelona and Real Madrid by confirming the signing of Renato Sanches from Benfica.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been courted by a host of Europe´s top clubs in recent times, with reports linking him very strongly with a move to Manchester United.

However, Bayern revealed on their official Twitter page that they have snapped up Renato for a fee of €35m which could rise to €45m with add-ons, with the player having penned a five-year deal.

The agreement makes Renato the fifth most expensive signing in Bayern´s history after Arturo Vidal, Javi Martinez, Mario Gotze and Matt Hummels, the latter having also joined the Bavarians this week for €38m.

Born in Lisbon to parents from Cape Verde, Renato has two full caps for Portugal to his name after making his debut in a 1-0 loss to Bulgaria in March this year.
