‘To Atleti’s fellow finalists… watch out!’

Enrique Cerezo has told Atletico Madrid’s fellow Champions League finalists to “watch out” as his club eliminated three domestic champions en route to Milan.

Atleti defeated PSV in the last 16 and Barcelona in the quarter-finals before dispatching Bayern at the last-four stage, courtesy of an away-goal triumph, and the onus is now on who they will face in the competition decider on May 22, with arch-rivals Real set to battle it out with Manchester City on Wednesday.

“The first thing I want to do is congratulate the players, Coaches and fans who came here for this win, which sees us reach the final in Milan,” the President said after Tuesday’s second leg in Bavaria.

“Bayern made it hard for us as we knew they would, but fortunately we went through.

“We eliminated PSV, Barcelona and Bayern to get here, so watch out [to the other finalists]!

“We’re not thinking about revenge [against Real], but we have two League matches before that, in which we can achieve something.

“The team are physically very well-prepared and have tremendous enthusiasm, and they’ve shown both of these things.

“It would’ve been great if this match was the final and we won it for [Luis Aragones].”
