Krohn-Dehli suffers ‘horrific’ injury

Sevilla midfielder Michael Krohn-Dehli will undergo surgery on Friday after suffering a “horrific” knee injury against Shakhtar Donetsk the night before.

Krohn-Dehli appeared as a 59th-minute substitute during Sevilla’s 2-2 draw at Shakhtar in the Europa League semi-finals but was stretchered off just 13 minutes later after a clash with Facundo Ferreyra resulted in his left knee buckling and AS describing the incident in the aforementioned light.

“We’ve yet to hear [the results of the tests], he’s in the hospital so we must wait and see what [the doctors] say,” Monchi said after the game.

“It doesn’t look good, the pictures say it all. He’s had to suffer, but we’ll try to immobilise him so that he returns to Sevilla.”

The Denmark international, who had only returned from a sore patellar tendon against Real Betis last weekend, will discover the length of his absence on Friday afternoon.
