Karim Benzema won’t be part of the France squad at Euro 2016 after the France Football Federation decided not to select the Real Madrid striker.
Benzema became entangled in allegations of a plot to blackmail Mathieu Valbuena and though part of the control order against Benzema was lifted, theoretically allowing Valbuena and Benzema to come into contact while on national team duty, the decision has been taken not to call the forward for the tournament to be held in France.
“Unfortunately for me and everyone who has encouraged and supported me, I won’t be selected for the European Championships,” Benzema wrote on Twitter.
