Marcelo thanked Real Madrid’s fans for being the 12th man during their 3-0 victory over Wolfsburg in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick cancelled out Wolfsburg’s 2-0 lead in the quarter-final tie as Madrid triumphed 3-2 on aggregate, but Marcelo was also sure to pay tribute to the supporters for backing Los Blancos in their droves.
“It was a fantastic night,” the left-back said after the game.
“The fans were phenomenal and without them we wouldn’t have been able to turn the game around.
“It was a very difficult night. In the games in the Champions League you have to suffer.
“No team gets to the semi-finals without suffering.
“We played well and gave another side of ourselves. Cristiano is a great player.”
