Gabi: Atleti work continues

Gabi felt the referee in Barcelona’s Champions League quarter-final win over Atletico Madrid could have been more lenient but vowed to keep working.

Fernando Torres gave Atleti the lead in the first half but was sent off shortly after and Luis Suarez scored twice after the interval to give Barca the first leg lead, but he himself could have seen red for kicking out at Juanfran.

“I didn’t see that. Things like that stay on the pitch,” Gabi told reports, according to AS, when Suarez’s infraction was raised post-match.

“With a man more Barca move the ball very well. We’ll continue to work.

“It’s clear that we dominated the match and the score board. The first half was ours, but it’s all on the return leg.

“It’s strong to say [referee Felix Brych decided the game], they were fouls. But he could have saved one of the yellow cards for the minute it was in.”
