Ramos: Heart, character and attitude

Sergio Ramos says Real Madrid need ‘heart, character and attitude’ when going to Barcelona for Saturday’s Clasico.

Los Blancos lost the first meeting between the sides 4-0 at Santiago Bernabeu and the captain told Madrid’s in-house television channel that getting the mentality right is key to avenging that result.

“We want to do things right and it’s easier when one puts in heart, character and attitude,” he said, Mundo Deportivo reports.

“A lot can happen because there is a referee and a great team opposite with players who can break away and make the difference.

“We must try to defend well because these matches are decided by small details and often won by the team that makes fewer mistakes. Let’s hope Real Madrid play a great game and get the victory.

“The team is fine. It’s a week and a game about which a lot is said because we all know the great impact and importance of playing a Clasico, especially with what we have gone through this season.

“In football anything can happen but physically the team is going through a good run for the final stretch of the season.

“After the bad result in the first Clasico, football gives you a re-match and on Saturday we have the opportunity to play away from home against a great team such as Barcelona.

“We want to do things right. The team is going through a very good dynamic, with a positive mind-set of trying to play a great game there and score three points to shorten the gap with them in the League.”
