Javier Mascherano hopes Barcelona and Argentina teammate Lionel Messi continues to ‘naturally break records’ against Real Madrid this weekend.
Messi scored as Argentina downed Bolivia in Cordoba, his 50th for his country and 499th overall, with Gabriel Batistuta’s record of 56 in his sights and the possibility 500 will be reached in Saturday’s Clasico.
“Messi is a player who breaks records naturally and doesn’t force anything,” Mascherano said, AS reports.
“Hopefully he can break more records as soon as possible because two will be significant meaning he helped the team, and the national team.
“And hopefully he reaches 500 goals this weekend against Madrid. It will be a tough match.”
