Muller: We’ll be ready for Barcelona

Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller maintains his club will be ready if they come across Barcelona in this season’s Champions League.

Next week’s second-leg ties see Bayern take on Juventus at the Allianz Arena having drawn the first game 2-2 in Turin, with Barca holding a 2-0 advantage over Arsenal from the Emirates Stadium.

Both are favourites to progress and Muller says he sees the Bavarian side at the same level as Luis Enrique’s team.

“Barcelona are having a good spell and won the treble last season, but I also see Bayern as among the strongest in Europe, and naturally alongside them,” he argued in an interview with Sport 1.

“Every week you can see how good Barca are, yet at the same time you could see our games and say ‘yes, they are also very strong’. Bayern are first in the Bundesliga, one step away from a cup final and got a good result in the Last 16 of the Champions League.

“I don’t know where they are better than us. If we have to face them then we’ll be prepared,” he warned.

Last season Barca eliminated Bayern 6-2 on aggregate in the semi-finals of the competition: 3-0 at the Camp Nou and 3-2 at the Allianz Arena.
