Bernd Schuster has slammed the “ridiculous imbalance” of Real Madrid’s squad after Borja Mayoral deputised for Karim Benzema over the weekend.
Benzema’s hamstring injury paved the way for Castilla striker Mayoral to lead the line in Madrid’s 7-1 demolition of Celta Vigo on Saturday as right-back Danilo filled in for Marcelo on the left once more, prompting criticism from the club’s former Coach.
“[The squad] is totally unbalanced,” he told Onda Cero.
“It’s ridiculous that if Benzema doesn’t play then Mayoral does, and if Marcelo doesn’t then Danilo does.
“[On Cristiano Ronaldo], he’s a goalscorer and these players don’t have good or bad games.
“They just dedicate themselves to scoring goals, period.”
