Real Madrid are set to be without Marcelo for this weekend’s derby against Atletico Madrid after the left-back missed training on Friday.

The Brazilian pulled up with a hip injury during Thursday’s session and was not present at Valdebebas the following morning, prompting the Spanish Press to treat his absence as confirmation that he would not be involved at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.

His usual deputy Alvaro Arbeloa neither trained, leaving Zinedine Zidane without a recognised left-back for the visit of Atleti as one of right-sided pair Dani Carvajal and Danilo are expected to fill in.

In better news for Madrid, Pepe trained with the rest of the squad and did not encounter any problems, alongside Castilla striker Borja Mayoral.
