‘Bayern nothing to do with Madrid ban’

Bayern Munich general manager Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has rubbished rumours a Bayern Munich complaint led to Real Madrid’s transfer embargo.

Madrid and Atletico Madrid were earlier in January barred from registering new players for two transfer windows, starting in summer 2016, and speculation in Spain had named the Bundesliga club as the source of an anonymous tip to FIFA over the improper registration of foreign players under-18.

“Bayern has nothing to do with it,” Rummenigge told AS.

“This rumour is simply a lie. As is known, the relationship between the two clubs is very good.”
