Celta Vigo have completed the signing of midfielder Marcelo Diaz from Hamburg on a three-and-a-half-year contract.
The Chile international, 29, arrives as a direct replacement for Augusto Fernandez, who joined Atletico Madrid earlier in the month.
In a statement on their official website, the Galicians praised the new boy for his “quality, shooting and spirit of sacrifice and dedication”.
Diaz also adds pedigree to Celta’s squad, having won two League titles with Basel between 2012 and 2015 and Copa America with Chile last summer.
He will be unveiled at Balaidos on Sunday evening, a day after his new team host Levante in La Liga.
