Alcacer: Happy but exhausted

Paco Alcacer was left ‘happy but exhausted’ after Valencia drew 2-2 with Real Madrid in a rip-roaring tie.

Alcacer levelled the scores late on, little more than a minute after Gareth Bale had put the visitors, down to 10 men after Mateo Kovacic’s straight red card, ahead.

“We knew it’d be a game like that. In the end we got the draw, Bale and even Alvaro Negredo could have scored,” Alcacer reflected, AS reports.

“In the locker room we are happy but physically exhausted.

“The forwards have to contribute a lot defensively when chances arrive make them good ones and score them.

“We needed two or three weeks to get used to the new Coach but in the end we are moving forward.”

The Valencia fans at one stage unfurled a banner praising Rafa Benitez, who led the team to a number of trophies a decade ago, and Alcacer understands the reason for the tribute.

“Of course. He is a great Coach, he won trophies and has tremendous merit,” the striker acknowledged.
