Turan to take No 7

Arda Turan will wear the No 7 shirt when he finally makes his Barcelona debut, and Aleix Vidal takes the vacant No 22.

Pedro Rodriguez was the last incumbent of the No 7, the Spain international leaving for Chelsea in the summer, while Dani Alves was the previous holder of Vidal’s new designation.

Alves gave it up to take the No 6 left vacant by Xavi Hernandez’s move to Al Sadd having worn the No 22 shirt in tribute to former teammate Eric Abidal.

AS notes that should Denis Suarez return to Barcelona from Villarreal, he’d get No 16, the spot that was Sergio Busquet’s before he took Carles Puyol’s No 5.

Arda and Vidal were signed by Barcelona from Atletico Madrid and Sevilla respectively in the summer, but the Catalans’ transfer ban meant they couldn’t be registered, and will only be eligible to play once the winter transfer window opens.
