Tebas: Supercopa could go abroad

Javier Tebas confirms bureaucratic obstructions mean a Primera fixture is unlikely to be played abroad in the near future, but hints at the Supercopa de Espana.

Tebas had floated the idea of playing a League fixture outside Spain but AS quotes the LFP President as admitting that is, for the moment, unworkable.

“Official League matches are tricky, because FIFA authorisation is required,” he said.

“But in another context it could be that Spanish teams play abroad. I’d sign tomorrow to have the Supercopa abroad.”

AS notes that to have the pre-season showpiece between the League champions and the Copa del Rey winners outside Spain would require the Spanish Football Federation [RFEF] to agree, as they hold jurisdiction over the Cup.
