Lewandowski Madrid’s next ‘galactico’?

Real Madrid have reportedly identified Robert Lewandowski as their next ‘galactico’, with agent Cezary Kucharski at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.

According to AS, Kucharski was in Spain to see family but nonetheless took up an invite to watch Madrid’s 4-1 win against Getafe in the President’s box alongside Florentino Perez and Jose Angel Sanchez, a decision carefully taken in light of his client one day joining the club.

However, the situation has been complicated by Bayern Munich’s intentions of improving the Pole’s contract, which presently expires in 2019, although the newspaper understands the player’s agent has rejected the German champions’ first offer.

Madrid, meanwhile, would make Lewandowski their highest-paid player behind Cristiano Ronaldo and feel his arrival is necessary to restore faith in their fans, which is currently at a low ebb following the side’s recent 4-0 hammering at the hands of Barcelona, amidst other institutional problems.

The 27-year-old is also believed to have been left disappointed by his omission from the final three for the 2015 FIFA Ballon d’Or and is of the opinion that a move to the Bernabeu would give him more global exposure and allow him to compete with the likes of Lionel Messi and Ronaldo.

The Polish Press are convinced that Ronaldo will leave Madrid next summer, while Karim Benzema’s future hangs in the balance as he strives to clear his name from the Mathieu Valbuena blackmail case, paving the way for Lewandowski to become Los Blancos’ new No 9.
