Zinedine Zidane says it is imperative “for France’s and his sake” that Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is not suspended by Les Bleus.
Benzema is set to discover his international fate on Thursday, when the French Football Federation (FFF) will make a decision on whether to exile him in light of his alleged involvement in the Mathieu Valbuena blackmail case.
“We’ll wait until Thursday,” the Castilla boss and former Bleus star told Marca.
“I hope for France’s and his sake that he’s not suspended from the [national] team.
“He’s a very important player for the team, strictly speaking from a sporting perspective.
“I hope that his personal issues get fixed.”
