Ramos: Don’t lose faith in Madrid

Sergio Ramos used a Twitter Q&A to ask Real Madrid fans to keep faith and said the squad are ‘fighting every day’ for another Champions League win.

Ramos marked the occasion of reaching 6m followers on the social media site to invite questions, and answered enquiries ranging from recovering from the Clasico defeat to his best friends at Santiago Bernabeu.

“I get along with everyone. To highlight some, maybe Marcelo, Luka Modric or Cristiano Ronaldo,” the defender revealed, AS reports.

“It’s a lot of pride and a great deal of responsibility [to be Madrid captain]. I said at my contract renewal, I would be very happy to retire here.

“Relationship with Iker Casillas? Very good. He’s more than a teammate, he’s a friend.

“Work, work, work [after the Clasico]. The results will come. Don’t lose faith in the team. We will fight and fight to return Madrid to where we belong.

“My favourite stadium to visit is Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, despite some whistles. It’s always like coming home. I would have loved to take part in Sevilla’s success. I’m a Sevilla fan at heart.

“All Coaches have had an impact on me but maybe most of all Joaquin Caparros, who gave me my Primera debut.

“Will I be a Coach in the future? I’m not thinking about that. For now and for the future I’m a player.

“[My idols are] the great central defenders in history, Paulo Maldini, Franz Beckenbauer and of course, Fernando Hierro.

“My Panenka goal was special, but [scoring as Madrid won] La Decima…speechless.

“I’ve got several favourite memories. The European Championships, the World Cup and La Decima. All the trophies are special memories.

“La Undecima? Hopefully. That’s why we fight every day.”
