Mel: Betis should leave stadium!

Pepe Mel joked “we’ll have to get our stadium closed down at this rate” after Real Betis’ 1-0 win at Levante on Friday.

Ruben Castro’s goal after just three minutes meant the Andalucians had won four of their last six away matches, with their last defeat on the road coming at Real Madrid back in August, and the Coach admits he would happily swap such form with victories at home.

“We’ll have to get our stadium closed down at this rate!” he said after the game.

“The team are looser and try out more things [away from home]. I don’t know why we find it harder at [Benito] Villamarin because our fans support us, are courageous and eager to see their team win.

"The truth is that we feel bad. I’d rather we beat Atleti and lost [on Saturday] because the fans need to see their team win at their stadium and not on TV.

“We’ve won three points and I believe we’re the best team away from home [in La Liga.

“The points are what they are, no matter where you win.

“What I liked is that we started the game very well and scored within four minutes, but [I didn’t like it when we] were out of the game for 15 minutes and made a mistake which almost cost us the match.”
