Sprained ankle for Sergi?

It’s thought Sergi Roberto suffered a sprained ankle against Roma and will miss Barcelona’s game with Real Sociedad this weekend.

Mundo Deportivo notes the midfielder was injured in a challenge with William Vainqueur shortly after the hour mark in Barca’s 6-1 win.

The pain Sergi felt is described as ‘severe’ and he immediately went to the locker room for treatment, but will be examined more thoroughly on Wednesday.

If as is thought Sergi has suffered a sprained ankle he’ll be unavailable for La Real’s visit to Camp Nou.

Thomas Vermaelen also picked up an injury against Roma, suffering a blow to the knee, but it’s not thought the Belgium international has anything more serious than a bruise, but Barca will keep an eye on the problem.
