Ancelotti: No Madrid-Clement row

Former Real Madrid Coach Carlo Ancelotti has clarified comments made in an interview after taking issue with their interpretation in some quarters.

Ancelotti spoke to the Daily Mail and revealed that his long-time assistant Paul Clement, now Coach at Championship Derby County, had been sworn at by some players who were then bombed out of the club by the Italian.

It was interpreted by some, including the Spanish Press, that they were Real Madrid players to whom Ancelotti was referring, but Ancelotti used his personal Twitter account to clear up the confusion.

“I want to clarify two things from my Daily Mail interview. Paul Clement and I never had problems with the Madrid players,” he began.

“That in the interview refers to an episode at another team, not Real Madrid.”

Ancelotti also put right a comment relating to Barcelona that was portrayed as rating La Blaugrana as ‘the best team in the world.’

“I never said that Barcelona is the best team in the world, but that they are Madrid’s most complicated opponent,” he explained.

“I have always said Real Madrid is the best club in the world.”
