Nuno Santo hailed the “unity” of his Valencia players after their 5-1 demolition of Celta Vigo at Balaidos on Saturday.
A brace each from Dani Parejo and Paco Alcacer, rounded off by Shkodran Mustafi earned Los Che a resounding victory over the Galician high-fliers, and the Coach claimed it was no more than his side deserved.
“We had a great game. After what happened in Belgium, the team took a step forward,” he said after the game.
“Their pride and self-esteem was reflected in the game. I have to congratulate them because they did all Valencia fans proud. It’s a happy day and we all deserved it.
“[Parejo’s goal in the last minute of the first half] was very important.
“The turning point of the team will be in their next game against Las Palmas.
“The players showed they knew what they wanted. This is the way [to go forward].
“We’re a team with very young players and we can still give more. We’ve proved our unity and never stopped working.”
