Parejo ‘saddened’ by Valencia defeat

Valencia captain Dani Parejo was ‘saddened’ by the defeat to Gent that leaves Los Che fighting for their Champions League survival.

Nuno Santo’s team were beaten by a single goal and the skipper admitted after the match that it was not a ‘comfortable’ night for the team.

“We’re saddened by the defeat, we weren’t able to add up,” he lamented, according to Super Deporte.

“I feel like we gave everything, we created chances, they scored from a penalty, but in the end we’re sad as we leave for home.

“We tried to press during the first half although we were deep and they had space. We haven’t been comfortable. I think we were more intense in the second half, more aggressive.

“They scored from the penalty spot. We went looking for the equaliser but couldn’t find it.

“The group isn’t over until the last day. The Champions League isn’t easy.”
