Navas dreaming of ‘La Undecima’

Keylor Navas has revealed that Real Madrid are dreaming of ‘La Undecima’ as they bid to win a second Champions League in three seasons.

Los Blancos became the first club to win 10 European cups – affectionately known as ‘La Decima’ – last year, but the goalkeeper claims his side are not satisfied with their exploits and are ready to better them.

“La Decima was a great achievement for the club,” he told UEFA’s official website.

“Everyone wants to win the Champions League, it’s one of our objectives.

“We’re trying to prepare effectively for each match so we can reach the final and win it, but we have to go step by step because there are still many important matches to play in the group stage and knockouts.

“In our hearts and souls, we see ourselves getting into the final and winning it.

“I always try to prepare for a match in the best possible way. [PSG] have quality players who can make life difficult for you at any moment, but I try to prepare for every game in the same way, with training and mental preparation.

“We know we’re a team who are expected to win trophies, and to achieve this we have to continue in this manner.

“The team are doing a great job. We’re all involved in defensive tasks. We know that if we all defend, starting with the attack, it’s very difficult for our opponents to cause us problems, so we’re following the coaching staff’s instructions and trying to improve with each game.

“I try to work hard every day with the same enthusiasm to keep my place [in the squad], and to do it at a club like this is a privilege.

“I’m grateful to everyone. The fans support us a lot, and that’s something which motivates you and makes you work harder to bring joy to those who come to the stadium.”
