New York City striker David Villa has ruled out the possibility of returning to La Liga on loan this winter.
The veteran has been linked with a move back to Valencia on loan until MLS restarts next March, but he insists his time in the Spanish top flight “has passed”.
“[On his debut season with NYCFC], I’m disappointed on a sporting level but very happy with the experience of living in the US and playing for a club like New York City and in a League with the potential of MLS,” he told Mundo Deportivo.
“My time in La Liga has passed. [On Barcelona], last season, with the treble, was fantastic.
“Our objective was to be in the playoffs, so my [18] goals aren’t important. What was important was the collective and it must be acknowledged that the team didn’t do well enough.”
